Witch items - what makes you appear to be a witch?
Among many different festivals, all around the world, there is an extraordinary one called Halloween. This festival is celebrated on the night of the 31st of October and all the participants try to dress up differently and present themselves in diverse costumes. This tradition is practiced by the population in an almost hypnotic way and has been passed down from generation to generation.
The roots of Halloween stretch back thousands of years. Celts believed that on the boundary between the worlds of the living and the dead became blurred on October 31. It was believed that the ghosts of the dead returned to earth and people had to leave their homes after dark and dress up in costumes, so that the ghosts would mistake them for fellow spirits.
Nowadays many countries enjoy the peculiarities of this holyday and choose different Halloween costumes to turn themselves into some kind of supernatural creatures or movie character. But if you decided to disguise yourself as a witch, here are some suggestions to help you . Remember you have to look natural, so the ghosts can mistake you for a fellow spirit.
Dress Your dress should be of dark colors and look shabby and threadbare. It is no secret, that a "real witch" has no time for shopping and looking for a fancy dress. Witches are usually busy casting spells and making special boiling poisons for someone who stands on their way.
Hat Second most important clothing item is the hat. Dark colors, again, are preferable such as black or purple. The hat can be of different shapes and design. There are hats adorned with artificial spider-webs with a spider crawling down the hat. This feature tells much about the home conditions that the witch lives in. This makes her appearance shabbier, which is good for such a magical character.
Wig It is very handy if you have a black long hair. Then the only thing you have to do is to look seedy. With the help of a hair brush ( and a younger sister) it won't be very difficult to achieve such a look. But if your own hair is far from being long or black, you can choose a wig which you can add to your costume.
Broom Another compulsory "witchy" accessory is a broom. No flights in the moonlight can be done without this working tool. Every self respecting witch has to be an owner of a broom. Among the great variety of brooms, find an old fashioned one if you can.
Cape Don't forget that witches work throughout the year, including the colder months of late fall and winter. A cape is not a luxury, then, but a necessary clothing item. The cape should be dark, too, and look threadbare to match that of the witch's dress. Some patches on her cape will make her look more industrious.
Shoes Old styled black shoes will complete your witch costume. First, they should match or complement with your dark colored dress. Second they must answer certain style requirements. Even being a witch does not mean that real ladies don't have good shoes!
Make-up To make your look really creepy, special made-up is a necessary. Applying some green make-up will add wicked look to your appearance. With this advise, you no doubt will be the most natural witch at your Halloween party.

5 Dream Witch Items, HWM Episode 71
Shakespeare drew loosely from historical accounts about King Macbeth of Scotland for his play Macbeth. Early in the play Macbeth, who is a general in King Duncan of Scotland’s army is told by Three Witches that he will one day be king. Lady Macbeth hatches a plot to murder Duncan so her husband can claim the throne for himself.
Macbeth kills Duncan but is overcome with so much emotion that Lady Macbeth must take control of the situation. She accuses their guards, whom Macbeth murders immediately, raising the suspicions of Macduff, the loyal Thane of Fife. Fearing for their lives, Duncan’s sons Malcolm and Donalbain flee to England and Ireland, and Macbeth assumes the throne.
Macbeth has his friend General Banquo murdered because he thinks that he may prove a threat, later Banquo’s ghost haunts Macbeth during a feast. Macbeth murders all in Macduff’s household including the women and children while Macduff is in exile in England.
Lady Macbeth breaks down with guilt and begins wandering the halls at night raving. Macduff and Malcolm invade, with Macduff killing Macbeth.
Down to today, many actors judge the play to be cursed and will not even mention it by name, instead preferring to refer to it as ’The Scottish Play’ or ‘MacBee’. Shakespeare wrote the play for his new patron, James I of England & VI of Scotland following the death of Queen Elizabeth. James was interested in witchcraft and Scotland, hence the prevalent themes in the play. The play is quite difficult to understand on first reading due to an abundance of obscure allusions and quirks of language.

Macbeth (Polanski 1971) -- Witches Opening
In the popular movie "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe", author C.S. Lewis created the imaginary land of Narnia, where 4 children encounter time travel and discover the forces of both good and evil, and take a much greater part in that battle than they had ever dreamed possible.
Set during World War 2, four siblings Lucy, Peter, Susan and Edmund are moved to the county because of the bombing in London, and begin to explore the big house that is their temporary new home. In a back room of the house is a large wardrobe filled with many coats. The youngest sister, Lucy, runs into the wardrobe to hide from the other kids, and in so doing discovers that the back of the wardrobe is the door to another world named Narnia. In that world she encounters a faun named Tumnus who lulls her to sleep with an enchanting tune on his flute. When she returns hours later through the wardrobe to her brothers and sister, she finds that no time at all has elapsed. Apparently time in Narnia is non-correlated with time in England. (A notion, by the way, consistent with Einstein's General Theory of Relativity.) Her siblings quite naturally chide her when she tells them of her adventure, but she remains convinced her experience was real. One by one the others also enter, but find that this new world of Narnia is no longer a happy place but is locked in the grip of perpetual winter by the magic of an evil queen.
In due time the children, known in Narnia as "sons of Adam and daughters of Eve" learn that Aslan, the lion king of this world of Narnia, is coming back and can help them against the witch. But when they learn that one of their own, Edmund, was deceived by the witch and now is actually in her service, they need even more help. Aslan is as good as he is powerful, and with him all things are possible. He eventually gives his life in exchange for their release from the magic of the White Witch, then comes back to life due to "deeper magic from before the dawn of time." (Wormholes into another dimension?) After much battling the forces of evil with Aslan's help and finally defeating the White Witch, the 4 children eventually rule the kingdom of Narnia as Kings and Queens for what seemed like a thousand years before being whisked back to England only to find themselves children again playing in the old house.
Hmmmm. Sounds kind of familiar...like something that has been going on in our world for the past few thousand years.
Well, be that as it may, and setting aside for a moment the obvious parallels to Christianity, it occurred to me that Einstein would have been first in line to see the movie.
How so?
For one thing, Einstein, known for his massive knowledge, said "Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand."
In the land of Narnia time was completely non-correlated to time in England, which is consistent with Einstein' theory of time dilation. And wormholes that tunnel into distant regions of space and time and black holes and string theory and spacetime curvature... "The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe" has it all and more.
