"Race to Witch Mountain rating" (quality: 7 out of 10)
Director: Andy Fickman
Writer: Matt Lopez, Mark Bomback, Andy Fickman
Starring: Dwayne Johnson, AnnaSophia Robb, Carla Gugino, Ciarán Hinds.
Duration: 1 hr., 39 min.
Rating: PG (violence, fear, dangerous situations, which alters thematic elements)
Good family fun with almost nonstop action. And most of the time that actually works on many levels.
Shamelessly starring a 12 year old and a girl like aliens to help promote the film, "Race to Witch Mountain" has enough time technical proof of Walt Disney and basic contents to be a very manageable family science fiction. Saturated with EFX large scale demolition derbies, much of it is almost monotonously repetitive in tone. It is not fantasy, magic, telekinesis, molecular manipulation and all contradictions usual manipulation of supernatural power.
And damned if Dwayne Johnson does not control her comic lines with a value useful.
Mom and Dad can expect giggling over a fair share of pompous government officials, a handful of Mafia thugs and a silly science fiction film would be few concepts about the fate of planet Earth.
In the refined technique, of course, Disney has never done anything less than world class. Science fiction wonders come to perfection. Put the values are rooted with universal appeal, just enough to see that you could have spent the precious moments of life in a more useless.
Thriller high octane adventures (from scratch), designed as almost a satire on gender, contains many a joke on himself.
So at first, a UFO has landed. A Homeland Security agent, Burke (Ciaran Hinds) is bearing down in place with full military backing.
Meanwhile over in Las Vegas. It happens that a certain former taxi driver Jack Bruno (Dwayne Johnson), enter the picture. The poor are really trying to go straight, but in that often-told the story, mafia killers need of their services and trying to recruit him as a driver hideaway. Now he's trying to do their job. A fare is Dr. Alex Friedman (Carla Gugino), an astrophysicist who to give a lecture at a UFO conference.
The next day, your ticket will be two pre-teens, Sara (AnnaSophia Robb) and Seth (Alexander Ludwig) who, unbeknownst to him, are actually aliens who came of that UFO. That was later seized by the crew of Burke and left in the installation of a top secret U.S. government Hidden deep Witch Mountain.
The two children can read minds, do magic and make telekenesis. They estimate that they need help from Bruno to evade SWAT teams and, of course, get wiped out by a chain-terminating his own planet.
The government agents and the crowd considerable spice to the action.
With some caveats medium heavy on the fate of Earth and an overall quality of the movie with class, a salute to the decent movie for entertainment organizations.
