The Chronicles of Narnia, a seven-volume series for children by CS Lewis, reveals that there is a parallel world to ours, peopled by men and women, dwarves and talking animals, giants and mermaids, centaurs and fauns, and ruled by a species, but surprisingly ferocious and gigantic lion named Aslan. Lewis, who died in same day as John F. Kennedy, 22 November 1963, combined the three passions of his life classical mythology and medieval Christian tradition-philosophy based on the creation of Narnia, a microcosm of the moral struggles our own world is facing.

Characters and plot
Along with Aslan himself, the heroes of the Narnia books are the four Pevensie children, Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy. Removed from her home in London to avoid the Nazi bombings, are approached with a degree-old professor in his rambling mansion in the country.

While playing hide and seek, Lucy, the youngest age 8 years, hiding in a closet full of racks of old coats. Moving further back to avoid detection, is pushed beyond the form in layers, waiting for struck the back of the closet at any time. Lucy feels instead of the branches of evergreens, hear the crunch of snow at his feet, and see the glow in the distance from a lamppost as he had seen many times back in London.

This marks the beginning of many adventures of four children in Narnia. Each of the books, though loosely connected to the others, also can be alone. Finally we learned that the light pole came from and how the costumes became a portal. Besides learning more about Aslan, you need to be your friend, and that their enemies are.

The deeper meaning
For those who know how to look for it, Lewis Narnia has filled not only with interesting characters, majestic landscapes and exciting action, but also with Christian allegory. Aslan represents Jesus Christ himself, "the lion of the tribe of Judah" (Revelation 7:14). Eventually become the Pevensie children in Narnia at home they view as their homeland and the world as a place where visitors are. Lewis, in his books on Christian apologetics, describes the spiritual world as existing parallel to the physics, have the quality to be not insubstantial shadow and compared with the physical, but more real, more colorful, and much, much more alive.

As Paul explains,

... many live as enemies of the cross of Christ. Their destiny is destruction, their god is their belly, and whose glory is their shame. His mind is on earthly things. But our citizenship is in heaven. And we look forward to a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ .... - Philippians 3:18-20 (see also Hebrews 11:13-16).

The Disney movie
The first book of the seven, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, is now the subject of a film produced by Walt Disney Pictures and Walden Media and directed by Andrew Adamson. At the climax of the story is a sacrifice beautiful photos of Lewis's death of Christ.

If you go to the cinema to see the breaking of the Stone Table, which symbolizes how the death and resurrection Christ meant the end of the Law of Moses by fulfilling their demands for blood atonement. See also for the role of Susan and Lucy play in witnessing the death and rebirth of Aslan, which corresponds to the historical role women played as assistants to Jesus' death and burial, and as the first witnesses of his resurrection.

The professor helps Peter and Susan to sort through how to receive the testimony of Lucy of Narnia: If you are a liar and not crazy, course must be telling the truth. This corresponds to Jesus gave testimony about their own identity, and gave assurance of its next-Lewis near HIMA elsewhere what he describes as the trilemma of Jesus: He is the Lord, Liar, or a madman?

Another significant parallel is that loyal followers of Aslan play a important role in the fight against the White Witch. As spiritual warfare, Christ ensures the final victory, but asks its followers to participate personally in the struggle. For relevant passages that conflict, see Ephesians 6:10-18, 2 Corinthians 10:3-5, 1 Timothy 1:18-20, 1 Timothy 6:12 and 2 Timothy 4:7).

Plans called for six films to follow this first one, in which the rest of the Narnia story develops. If they are so faithful to the books, well conceived and produced as it was for all us diehard fans Lewis welcome them as an introduction to a world of Narnia tired. We hope that viewers will understand and appreciate the allegorical features as much as make the history of the area. The goal is not only knowing about Aslan and Narnia, but to be his friend and long live in his kingdom forever.
