Spell Casting in Elder Scrolls game

There are real spells, and then there are play spells. There is a whole fantasy world online - role playing games and more where casting spells is part of surviving and advancing your character in the game. One such game is called Elder Scrolls and here is some advice about using spells in that game...

Trouble Spell casting on Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion for PS3?

I've been playing Oblivion for about a week now, and have got the hang of it, well except for spell casting. Whenever I press the R2 button to cast a spell nothing happens no matter what spell I use, but the weirdest part is, the spells were working in the moss rock cavern. Is there something I'm doing wrong, or am I doomed to never cast spells?

Some spells require you to be at a certain level in destruction, illusion etc. So you might be casting a spell which you cannot use yet, because your not a high enough level.. try using fireballs, which are usable when you first play. You should also check if you have a spell selected by going into the spell section of your journal and pressing X on the desired spell.
