Kuan Yin, The Bodhisattva, The Goddess of Compassion

In many Shinto, Buddhist, and Taoist circles, the people love The Goddess of Compassion, the Great Kuan Yin ! She is the one that many people call to for help!
Kuan Yin is a Bodhisattva, an Enlightened Being , and not only that, but she is considered to be THE Bodhisattva , and in the Lotus Scripture she is described as being the One who someone can be called upon, to save one from any conceivable calamity.
She is called The "Hearer of the Cries of the Suffering World" and she has an oracle of her own called the chien tung , or the 100 Sticks of Fate . Basically, there are 100 long, thin bamboo slats kept in a cylindrical bamboo cup. The sticks are numbered from one to one hundred, and when someone asks a question, or simply wants a "reading" (because The Bodhisattva "knows" what you need, without you even asking) the practitioner tilts the cup while shaking it from side to side and a few of the sticks rapidly start to jump right out.
Usually the stick, that stuck out the farthest, is selected and the number on the other end will correspond with a reading in the book! This is a very cool and fascinating way to get advice about anything that life may hand you.
